My thanks to Charles for a life well lived. As a fellow submariner, I salute him for his service to our country. I wish God's grace and peace to his family. Sailor, you at long last have eternal fair winds and following seas.

One day while Oma and Papa were visiting us on Grand Cayman, I asked Papa if he would like to come out on the dive boat and go snorkeling.(he always insisted on calling it SHnorkeling) He replied, “NO, I want to go scuba diving! So we did it and this WWII submarine officer was once again exploring the undersea world. We will always remember his determined zest for travel and adventure. My daughter could never have picked a better grandfather. We are so lucky to have been a part of his life.

We are so sorry for your loss. Family is the one bond that we never release when our loved ones pass. That bond becomes part of who we are, the decisions we make and the way that we interact with the rest of society. Our hearts go out to all of you at this time.

Mr. Bartholomew was such a kind, sweet, gentleman with a wonderful memory and good sense of humor. We always enjoyed his company, and any occasion that we saw him about town was a happy experience. He was an outstanding gardener and loved to share his talents with us. God Bless you all. Rich and Lois

My dear uncle was a good and gentle man. I remember many trips to his home to visit him and Aunt Kitty and all my cousins. What great food and companionship.
There are too many stories to tell. His devotion to his family was outstanding...as was their devotion to him. I know their love will be with him for eternity.
Some day we'll see you again, if we can live the kind of life as you did.

My memories of my Dad include piling all 5 kids into the back of a station wagon and driving to all kinds of interesting destinations which we didn't appreciate half enough- a patient, giving, humble man with a wry sense of humor- he was a loyal and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, son and a friend with a love of nature and life.
