I remember Carl three decades ago. It was winter 1990. He brought me to a small lake in Alaska. As we sat by the lake watching the snow slowly drift downwards onto the landscape. Carl spoke in a whisper, as if, trying not to disturb the sanctuary we were destined to be in. It was picture perfect. Quiet, serene, tranquil. Free of disturbance.
Carl had a calming voice and romantic out look on life. He spoke of finding the special woman he would love unconditionally and having children with her. Carl also would tell me he would just sit by this lake passing time to remember his past but also capture the beauty of the winter snow and the silence it brings to his mind and the physical pain he was in completely removed.
Carl spoke of the challeges, struggles and suffering he had endured with his sickness. The support and love of people in his life. His Mom. Sisters and brothers. Friends. Yet the joy of beating the odds of his sickness for years made Carl be the young man full of beauty inside and out, an abundance of positive energy, and remarkable unflinching optimism. This is how I remembered Carl.
Thank you Carl for allowing me to have those memories of you. My brother from another world and friend. Love you.
-Louis Prades.

It was my true pleasure to say Carl was a friend and will be missed in this world. His was/is a true light to many of us and never knew a stranger. Laura, Carl, and I were Alaska State Fair "eating buddies" When I was leaving Alaska, I remember driving north and Laura telling me that I would have to tell Carl. He was so supportive. To Laura and Christopher: Please let me know what I can do to help you through this very difficult time. Kathy Epperson

In these times, there is little we can say or do to ease the loss of Carl, except to send a message of love & peace. We remember Carl as having a good sole & outlook on life, He'll live in Laura & Christopher's hearts forever.
We were so glad we got to know him during a visit to Grandma Bordeaux's in California. Our favorite picture of Carl - is the one taken at the end of the day fishing for halibut - what a great picture, what a good day!
Our WISH for Carl :
Dear Angel,
"Watch over the person we loved & hold him especially near.
Brighten his world with joy from above & make all the clouds disappear.
Comfort his heart with your touch...and PS...
...please tell him - he was & is loved so much."

I will miss my near and dear friend, the loss of you leaves a void in my heart forever. My prayers are with his family and everyone who knew him. He was the guy of guy that all you had to do was meet him to like him. He was a great guy to be around. I am truly sorry that we never got to make the trip together we were planning to Alaska. I do plan to come with Chris and Laura to spread his ashes. I do look forward to meeting his family and friends he always spoke of. God bless you my brother.
