Obituary of Gary Waite Ogle

EAST GREENBUSH – Gary Waite Ogle, 73, of East Greenbush, entered into rest on January 14, 2023, at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. The son of the late Waite Hoyt Ogle and Una Vilate (Hunter) Ogle, Gary was born on November 8, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. Gary has resided in East Greenbush with his family for the last 30 years. Gary enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and served his country faithfully. He obtained many decorations and awards including: The National Defense Service Medal, The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also obtained the distinction of Sharpshooter (M-14 and M-16). Gary received an honorable discharge for his service in the Army in 1972. Mr. Ogle was employed by the State of New York in the Office of General Services for 32 years and retired in 2014. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars. Survivors include his wife of nearly 39 years, Lydia E. (Seiger) Ogle, whom he married on July 21, 1984, in Albany, New York. He is also survived by one son, Jesse Ogle, two grandsons Ryan and Noah, and one sister Laurel Lomas. Nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, Gary was recently predeceased by his son Michael Toby Ogle who passed away on December 13, 2022. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The Ogle has chosen to honor Gary’s memory in a private way. Burial will take place in the family plot in the coming Spring in Kinderhook Cemetery.
