Obituary of Francis R. Dyer
COLONIE –
Francis R. Dyer, 76, of Colonie, entered into rest on November 2, 2022, at the Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Castleton- On- Hudson, NY.
The son of the late Francis W. and Ana H. (Hidalgo) Dyer, Francis, known as Frank to his friends and family, was born on November 6, 1945, in Gibraltar, United Kingdom.
Mr. Dyer was raised as a young man in Gibraltar, UK and emigrated to Albany, New York.
He graduated high school and worked as a carpenter and small engine repair mechanic.
Frank had a passion for seeking out antiques… unlocking their historic and monetary value. He enjoyed repairing small engines and working in carpentry and woodworking. When we were young, kicking a ball and throwing a frisbee in the backyard became the highlight. Usually, Uncle Frank was the first out the door to lead! Around the holidays he loved to spend time with family. He would love to challenge a family member to a game of chess where he was an admirable opponent and seldom lost. We are saddened at the passing of our brother, uncle and friend and he will be missed.
Survivors include his brothers Charles M. Dyer (the late Rose Motto Dyer) and Arthur Dyer (Sharon Golden Dyer). Francis (Uncle Frank) was an uncle to many nieces and nephews including: Lisa (Anthony ) Mosca , Charles ( Stella) Dyer, Michele ( Daniel) Lydon , Denise ( Kevin) Orchanian, Debbie Dyer and Adam Dyer, as well as many great nieces and nephews, who also survive.
Frank’s family wishes to say “thank you” to: Dr. Andrew Coates of Albany Medical Center for his unwavering love and care he showed Francis and his family during this journey. Pat, an angel-nurse from Riverside Center for Rehab. and Nursing for her love and warmth she showed our family and to all staff that cared for Francis, our loved one.
Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with Frank’s family from 11AM-12PM on Thursday, November 10th in the chapel of Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180. A prayer service will follow the calling hour at 12PM. Interment will follow the service in the family plot in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
