Obituary of James A. Ryan

EAST GREENBUSH – James A. Ryan, 74, of East Greenbush, entered into rest on September 21, 2022, in the comfort of his own home. The son of the late Charles Joseph and Dorothy E. (Weatherwax) Ryan, James was born on May 23, 1948, in Plattsburgh, New York. Mr. Ryan was raised in Slingerlands and was a graduate of Guilderland Central Schools. A Navy Veteran, Mr. Ryan was stationed aboard the USS New Jersey and served his country faithfully from 1967-1969, receiving an honorable discharge for his service. He was formerly employed with the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, where he retired from. His hobbies and interests included live theater performances and visiting casinos. Survivors include his siblings: Dorothy LaBombard Green (William LaBombard, deceased; Keith Green, deceased), Bonnie Goggin (Martin Goggin, deceased), Jerry Ryan (Marjorie), Lynn Demczar (Steven) and Daniel Ryan. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his brothers Arthur Ryan (wife Joan Ryan, also deceased) Martin Ryan, Charles Ryan (wife Nancy Ryan), and David Ryan (wife Linda Ryan). Heartfelt thanks to James' close friend Clayton Sherlock for giving so much of himself and his time caring for James. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Inurnment with military honors will take place at 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 29th in the Gerald B.H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
