Obituary of Susan A. Kolesinskas

ALBANY - Susan Anna Kolesinskas, 94, of Albany, New York, entered into rest on June 22, 2022. The daughter of the late Frank and Maranda (Bohn) MacIntire, Susan was born on September 22, 1927, in Binghamton, New York. Susan was raised in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. She resided in Binghamton for most of her life. In her later years she lived in the Albany area at Avila Senior Living Community and briefly at Kingsway Nursing Center, Schenectady. Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by her husband Frank P. Kolesinskas of 42 years as well as her sisters Grace Gardner, Sarah Kostrna, Frances Wrana, and brother Wilson MacIntire. She is survived by her brother Frank MacIntire and sister Mary Berg. Survivors include her son Mark Kolesinskas (Cindy) Providence, RI, daughter Carol E. Murphy (Thomas) Hilton Head, SC and Latham, NY, Kipen Kolesinskas (Lesley Schurmann) Manchester, CT. Her beloved grandchildren Lauren Kolesinskas (Brooklyn, NY), Ian Kolesinskas (Boston, MA) and Maranda Kolesinskas (Everett, MA). She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Montrose, PA high school and received her nursing degrees from the Wilson Memorial General Hospital School of Nursing and the Frances Payne School of Nursing at Case Western University. Mrs. Kolesinskas was employed by the Broome County Health Department as a Public Health/Registered Nurse for many years. Susan was a life long member of the Binghamton Tabernacle United Methodist church and supported their dinner and food bank program with her culinary talents. After retirement she volunteered at the chemotherapy unit of Binghamton General Hospital, an Alzheimer’s respite care organization and Binghamton Psychiatric Center. Susan was an avid reader, a gardener, and a talented baker whose pies, cookies and cakes were legendary. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. In keeping with her wishes, her burial and service will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Her final resting place will be in the Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, NY.
