Obituary of Mark Charles Shufelt

COHOES- Mark Shufelt, 73, of Cohoes, passed away on June 3, 2022. He was born July 18, 1948, in Troy, the son of Rita (Serafin) Shufelt and Milton Shufelt. Mark was well known as a baseball and basketball player in the Capital District. He played basketball at Catholic Central High School and was awarded a scholarship to play at the University of Georgia. Mark was inducted into the CCHS and Capital District basketball hall of fame. In recent years he enjoyed playing golf at Van Schaick Country Club and other local clubs. Mark is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Joyce Cavosie and her sons, Scott (Kimm) and Chris (Tara) and their daughters Alexa and Ally, as well as a son, Chuck Shufelt Cash of Scotts Valley, Calif. He is also survived by his brother Alan (Vivian) Shufelt of South Carolina. In keeping with Mark's wishes there will be no service or viewing. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The family wishes to thank all of Mark’s friends and extended family who reached out with phone calls and visits that comforted him dearly.
