Sadly, John passed away on May 25, 2022 at the age of 80 after a long illness.
Born December 2, 1941, he was a lifelong resident of Schenectady. John was very proud of his service in the U.S. Coast Guard and his work of 30 plus years at General Electric. He was a jack of all trades and a master of all aspects of a great handyman. John proudly achieved his Merchant Marine Captain’s License in his 50’s and worked on tug boats along the Hudson and Mohawk rivers where his nickname was Stainless.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy, his step son James Ginter, step sisters Betty Bartley and Florence McClane, step brothers Wallace and Morris Northup. John is survived by his wife of 30 years Lou-Ann, step son Daniel Ginter and grandchildren Sarah and Christopher Ginter. John is also survived by his siblings: Donald Keast and Dorothy Tooley and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Doctor and Nurses of Saratoga Hospital’s Palliative Care and Hospice. Their compassion, empathy and care were greatly appreciated.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no services.
