Hello, Tom, Olivo children, Olivo grands, and all reading this, who loved Stephanie, as I did. I was shocked to learn of Stephanie's passing. Had I realized she was ill, I would have been in touch with her personally and often. It has been years since I have seen either Stephanie or Tom, the last time, I think, was whe they did a Lenten Friday night seminar on healing prayer for Father Bill Hinrichs, now for many years a former rector, at St. George's Episocpal Church, Clifton Park, the church I attend. Onebof my best memories of Stephsnie was the library in the Olivo home. Another was that she, ever the generous lady and the avid spiritual reader, sent a large envelope to me, when I was away, taking care of a very sick mother. Those books were a connection to Stephanie and tobother friends, when I was a full time caretaker and could not leave the house except for brief trips to the pharmacy and grocery stores. Stephanie always had a warm smile for everyone. She was an accomplished, kind, and talented lady, who did all things well and with great dignity and humility and always to the glory of God. I am sure she is greatly missed, and I am also sure that she is safe, well, and content in the nearer presence of the Lord she loved so dearly and so well. I would love very much to hear from Stephanie's family on my home telephone. Grace, peace, and much love, Colette

I met Stephanie around 2005 when I decided it was time to re-learn how to knit. I ventured into Wool n’ Word one day and asked Stephanie if she would be interested in trading knitting lessons for massages (I was a massage therapist at the time). I barely had the words out of my mouth when she blurted out, “Yes!” We both felt like we’d struck it rich with that little barter.
I can still hear Stephanie’s welcoming voice ringing out each time I entered the door of her shop. She so enjoyed sharing her amazing knitting skills, a bit of chat, and a cup of blueberry tea.
My life got busy after some time, and I regretted not being able to stop by the shop before it closed. But every time I drove by the green house with the orange trim, I smiled to think of Stephanie and Tom. I am really saddened to hear she was sick for so long, our sweet and spirited Stephanie.

I will never forget the very fist day my family moved into our home in West Sand Lake, Neighbor’s of the Olivo’s. I was 3yrs old, it was around 1981 and i was looking around the yard in my new home and here comes Mrs.Olivo and her daughter Katie, Katie holding a pink rose from Stephanie’s garden. Katie said, “welcome to the neighborhood wanna be friends”. Little did i know that rose represented a childhood of happiness and memories that i will cherish forever. The Olivo’s became my second family. Stephanie’s garden was always blooming with beautiful flowers. My bedroom window was the view of that. I had the pleasure to not only see the gardens but to grow with the flowers. I spent my childhood as one of the Olivo’s. It has helped shape me into who iam today. Im so lucky to have been apart of it. Thank you Olivo’s for all the memories! im so sorry for the loss of Stephanie. May all the wonderful memories of her help you through this hard time. Love, Aimee Kot

Stephanie holds a very dear place in my heart. I took a knitting class with her at Albany HS and then many a class, yarn crawl, and visit to her shop. She was kind, warm, and very funny. She told many great stories of her childhood, children and grandchildren that I still smile at. Her life touched so many people . I am so lucky to have been one of them. Praying for comfort to all of her family.

To Tom and other family members. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Stephanie. She was a dear, close friend to me. We shared many good times together in her yarn shop and away at knitting retreats which Stephanie had organized. We also shared several trips to the Knittng Guild meetings in Kinderhook, N.Y. Stephanie was a wonderful, knowledgeable knitting teacher. She was always calm and happy in her yarn shop. .Stephanie often shared a childhood memory with us during the Thursday evening Knit and Chat meeting. Stephanie enjoyed going to her camp near Schroon Lake in the Adirondacks. In her final yesrs she was unable to go to her camp. Therefore, she was home with Tom more often . I will miss Stephanie a great deal. Stephanie was a patient teacher,. She was always ready to help me out if I didn't understand how to create a new knit stitch. June E. Kinerson

My favorite memories of Christmas as a kid were of the big Christmas party at Aunt Stephanie & Uncle Tom’s
house. It felt like stepping into a Christmas you’d see on TV - the big, beautiful old house with banisters and corners and all sorts of cool places to play hide and seek; visiting her sheep, getting to touch all the yarn she spun and dyed at Wool ‘n Word, being introduced to my cousins and extended family members; playing games, the annual Christmas “Auction”, and getting to experience the love and talent Aunt Stephanie selflessly gave to the entire family. I will keep her memory close, and look to her example for the meaning of hospitality and family. I am grateful for the magic she brought to my life.

Dear family, my prayers are for comfort for everyone.
Stephanie cared for us in Deerland and then for me when she welcomed me and my children in her home for months. I will always remember Stephanie, her loving care and amazing gifts, and will miss her as part of my family. I look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
