Obituary of Judith E. Cavanagh
It is with the deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Judith Cavanagh.
Judith passed at the age of 77 with loving family beside her. She passed after a battle with N.S.C. lung cancer on October 7, 2021.
Judith was the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Sennert. She was born in Brooklyn New York on October 6, 1944.
Judith married the love of her life Richard Cavanagh on February 14, 1984. Richie and Judy lived in Cairo, New York for over 25 years.
Richie preceded her in 2008.
Judith was the loving mother to Elizabeth (Leland) Miller, Ellen (Harry) Gottlieb and Michael Pisàno.
At the time of her death she was living with her granddaughter Andrea (William) Moxham and her great grandchildren Jodi, Ethan and Madelyn.
Judith is survived by a sister Elizabeth (Harry) O’brien, and grandchildren and great grandchildren Michael (Monica & Mia) Voulo, Joseph Voulo,
Sarah (Richie) Gottlieb, Paul Gottlieb, Emily (Robert & Junior) Hart, Gwen Cody, Gabrielle Cody, Christopher Miller,
Sean & Liam McGrenagthan, along with several nieces and nephews,
Over the many years, Judith was employed in the hospitality business. Her favorite was working beside her daughter Betty at Betty’s diner.
At the age of 50, she went back to school and obtained an associates degree in Nursing at Columbia Greene Community College.
At the time of her death, she was employed as a substitute teacher for the Cairo-Durham Central School District.
Judith loved shopping especially with daughter Betty. She enjoyed spending quiet time on her back porch, feeding the birds and gazing at
the stars and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Catskill Elks club on November 13, 2021 from 4 PM until 8 PM.
The family asked in lieu of flowers please donate to the Greene County Women’s Cancer League or Saint Peters Hospice Inn.
Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the celebration of life in her name.
