Obituary of Leo G. Ashline, Jr.

NISKAYUNA- On August 8, 2021, Leo George Ashline, Jr. passed away at the age of 92. Leo was born in Burlington, Vt. on May 19, 1929; the oldest child of the late Vera and Leo George Ashline, Sr. At the age of 17, Leo enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country during World War II. In June 1954, Leo married Eve V. Ashline, and they moved to the Albany, N.Y., area where they raised their three children. After working for the Times Union Newspaper, Fort Orange Printing Co., and Boyd Printing Co., Leo purchased The Peters Print in 1969, which he transformed into a printing company that specialized in Foil Stamping and Embossing. Leo was an active member of his community who belonged to many organizations within the printing industry. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Watervliet Elks Club, Mayfield Yacht Club, and The Mohawk Club. Leo was an adventurous craftsman with many hobbies, which included cooking, boating, water skiing, hot air ballooning, and skydiving. Over the years, he built and collected canoes, kayaks, and many unique clocks and pieces of artwork, which were displayed throughout his home. Leo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his brother, Richard; and his sister, Lois. He is survived by his wife, Eve; his children, David Ashline (Wendy), Linda Audi (Gene), and Cindy Ashline; his dear friend, Patricia Hyde; and his beloved cat, "Kitty". He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Leo will be laid to rest on August 25, 2021, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Private services will be held.
