Obituary of Jay Kenneth Lowe

TROY- Jay K. Lowe, of Troy, passed away on February 9, 2021, after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved son, Jared, two brothers: Paul (Barbara Nielsen) Olekoski and Alex “Ole” (Margie) Olekoski, and three sisters: Betty Sue Hall, Denise Gold and Deborah Plumadore. He was predeceased by his parents, John K. Lowe Jr. and Agnes (Bailey) Lowe and his sister, Mary Rankin. Jay lived in Troy most of his life, graduating from Catholic Central High School and spending many of his years working in the hotel and healthcare field. He enjoyed spending time at the track in Saratoga during August, attending concerts at SPAC with friends, watching pro football, and attending family gatherings. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his son Jared. He loved watching him shoot his bow and arrow, taking him to museums, county fairs, and hot air balloon festivals. The helicopter ride topped them all! Jared will have countless memories of these times as well as the time they spent together swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, etc. We would like to thank Jay’s lifelong friend, Joey Patane, who provided his love and support until the end and Ed Bernstein, who tirelessly cared for and supported Jay through his illness by running errands, providing transportation for medical appointments and helping him get his affairs in order. Special thanks to Marsha Hall and the rest of the Community Hospice team who helped the family take care of Jay the last month of his life and made his journey more peaceful - Marsha, we couldn’t have done it without you!
