I decided to "google" Dr. Jordan's name, to try to find the man who first inspired me as an anti-apartheid advocate in Albany, 1985 when I was a budding student activist. I found this obituary on-line and feel saddened that I did not make this attempt earlier, so I might have told Dr. Jordan in person how much his passion and dedication meant to me. Hearing him speak always lit a fire in his listeners, and I feel blessed to have met him. Some years later, (1992?)I was thrilled to see him again at UMass when the chorus I direct ("Amandla") was asked to sing at a program featuring Archbishop Desmond Tutu. There, I found that Dr. Jordan was the relative of Zengie, the wife of a good friend, Mzamo Mangaliso, another outstanding and dedicated person.
As I learn, today, of the death of Dr. Jordan, I wish to extend my condolences to his family and loved ones. He was truly a towering giant of justice work, and his mentorship changed my life.

It is with deep sadness that I recently learned of the passing of my revered icon, father, scholar, writer, mentor, freedom fighter and human rights Activist who abandoned his comfort zone and made a conscious choice to spend his entire life fighting for the freedom of all the oppressed people of his country, and those of the entire world. I have had the priviledge of spending time with Dr Jordan during my stint in Albany NY from 2005 to early 2006. The time I spent with this legend can not be replaced by anything in this world. He made sure that he opened my world view to re-decorate it with corrections to my misconceptions. I'm proud to say that right now, half of the things I know, and those that I continue to share with others as a "pay forward" endevour were engraved in my mind by him. By the time I left the States he had informed me that he was in the process of rewriting the South African History with another retired scholar from Albany. I hope this dream, which he held so dear has been converted into reality. If not, one will never rest until such is done. May your soul rest in peace tata wam. May the Heavens open doors for you to retire in eternity, for you have made your meaningful contribution to mankind. I love you with all my heart. Till we meet again!!!

Bhut Boji friend.father ,uncle to many.
When I first met him through my late husband I felt as though I had known him my whole life. He even knew my parents from back in the day. His warmth and kindness touched me and my children deeply. We will dearly miss him as we know he will be missed by the South African community and beyond.
Rest In Peace Bhutto Boji

Dear Sandile and April,
How beautifully you expressed Dr. Jordan's life! He was and always will be a cherished member of our family. Dr. Jordan made a difference in so many people' lives, and I am fortunate that my family were among those he touched!
Can those of us who will be attending bring a dish to share at the reception following the service ?
