Obituary of Bertha (Kathy) Welch

Bertha (Kathy) Welch, of Rotterdam, passed into God’s Realm on Sunday September 25th. Born in Amsterdam June 13, 1932, she was 84 at her passing. She was a classically trained musician playing many of the clubs around the area, she even had her own musical radio show on WKOL Amsterdam. A grand lady with many friends. She will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her parents Mahlon J. and Winnifred (Rogers) Brush; her husband, George Bruce Welch in 1959; her son, Robert James Welch in 1987; and her brother James Mahlon Brush 2007. “Geeko” (as she was known by family) is survived by her son, George (Connie) Welch of Glenville, daughter-in-law Pamela Welch of Rotterdam, grandchildren Rebekah (Tim) Billington, Veronica Welch, George Welch, Kimberly (Kurt) Butler, and Robert (Kristian) Welch, great grandchildren Autumn Billington, Angelleena Butler, Victoria Billington, Jayden Welch, and Brayden Butler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet ‘Teacup’. There are no calling hours as per her request. The family will have a ‘Memorial Gathering/Celebration of Life’ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
