Obituary of Elizabeth Cammisa

CAMMISA, ELIZABETH (BETTE) DELMAR - Bette Cammisa died June 19th at the age of 93 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born to Frank and Antoinette Terilli in Torrington, CT, she ushered in the New Year on December 31, 1921 at 11:00 pm. Bette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Romeo, originally from Waterbury CT., and daughters Laura-Ann (Jeffrey Schloss), Elaine (Elliott Frost), Mary-Beth, and grandchildren Evan and Olivia Cammisa-Frost. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary (Dr. Frank) Cammisa. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, including her many nieces and nephews. Bette was pre-deceased by her sister, Frances Lamanna of Torrington, CT. Bette and Romeo met in the early ‘40s when Bette worked as a dental assistant for Romeo’s cousin, Dr. Tillio DiNicola. They lived in Massapequa Park, NY for 58 years before moving to Delmar Place in Delmar, NY. They were world travelers, having explored all seven continents. Bette loved her home and garden and was an avid reader, never without a few books by her side. She was a “cat person” but loved all animals. Bette was active in her church and community, volunteering in the church food pantry and delivering meals on wheels into her late 80s. She was a Democratic Committee member and worked at the polls every election day. Bette was an avid bowler until the age of 90 and over the years accumulated many awards and trophies.
