Obituary of Laureen Collette
COHOES –
Laureen Collette, 70, of Cohoes, passed away at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY following a long illness on Monday, January 13, 2025.
She was born in Albany on July 28, 1954 the daughter of the late Robert J. Collette and Philura I. (Barlow) Collette. A lifelong resident of Albany and Cohoes, Laureen received an a LPN degree from Maria College in Albany.
She worked at Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home and then for NYS as a Clerk for the Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany, retiring in 2010.
In her personal time, some of her favorite activities included craft fairs and penny socials, going to the casino and browsing flea markets.
Laureen is survived by her companion Ruth E. Smith. She is also survived by siblings: Robert “Mick” Collette of Stillwater, Robyn (John) Coil of Mechanicville, Elise M. Collette of Stillwater, Rob (Jacquelyn) Collette of Stillwater and brother-in-law Ronald Minor, her two grandchildren Blake and Brynn Werger, numerous nieces and nephews, and good friend Rosanne Werger.
Besides her parents Laureen was also predeceased by her sister, Donna Minor.
In keeping with Laureen’s wishes, there will be no services, but rather a celebration of her life will be held by the family at a later date.
Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
