Obituary of Mary Katherine Murnane
ALBANY –
Mary Katherine Murnane, 63, of Albany, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Mary Kay was born on May 24, 1961 in Albany, New York and was the daughter of the late John and Anne Murnane.
She was raised in Albany and remained a lifelong resident, having received her education from Mercy High School and Hudson Valley Community College.
Professionally, Mary Kay was employed for 31-years with Albany County Department of Social Services.
For pass time fun, Mary Kay enjoyed shopping, and taking long rides with the love of her life John. Everyone that knew MaryKay knew she had a love for horse racing and enjoyed her August days at the Saratoga Race track with racing papers in hand, as well as the Kentucky Derby.
Mary Kay will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched and leaves to cherish her memory, her loving partner of ten years, John O’Brien and her favorite four legged friend Zoey. She was the dearest sister (and sister-in-law) of: Teri Gallo (Chris), Joanne Murnane (Joe Delory), Colleen Christian (Mike) and Fran Christian.
Mary Kay was the beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews and their spouses: Ryan Gallo (Victoria), Patrick Gallo (Korey) Justin Gallo (Alexandria), Connor Gallo (Kelly), Garrett Delory, Brennan Delory, Julia Christian (Jared), Michael Christian (Beatriz), Madeline Christian (Drew), and Evan Christian.
Mary Kay’s family wish to thank the many doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided and a special thank you to Michelle and Karen O'Brien and Jeannie Huber for their endless support and love.
A Celebration of Life for Mary Kay is being planned by her family for the Spring of 2025.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
