Obituary of Gloria Emain Coore
AMSTERDAM –
Gloria Emain Hedman Coore, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 22, 2024.
She came into the world on December 5, 1929 to the late Jacob Edward Hedman and Julia Neil Hedman. She was the fourth of five children born in the warm and friendly island of Jamaica. She was predeceased by her brothers Bradley and Neville Hedman, sister Avis Eccleston, as well as her husband, Phillip Coore.
From a very young age, she distinguished herself as a gifted seamstress, although that was not the career path she chose. She was blessed with a daughter, her only child, Claire Ingrid. She migrated to the United States and worked at Chase Manhattan bank until she retired. She married and made a life in Brooklyn NY. In the early 1970s, her spiritual hunger led her to accept the Bible truths introduced to her by her daughter and son-in-law David. She became a faithful and dependable publisher of the Crown Heights Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Upon retirement, she relocated to Amsterdam NY, to be closer to her family. Gloria was full of vitality and lived independently well into her 90s. When her health limitations required that she accept residence in a care facility, she relished the regular visits from her family and friends from both the Amsterdam congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and those in her former Brooklyn congregation who would travel to see her.
Gloria embraced the Bible based hope of the resurrection. It fortified her as her health and strength declined. She knew without a shadow of a doubt, that her Creator, Jehovah God, had a wonderful future in store for her.
Gloria will be remembered for many wonderful things. She was an expert seamstress who kept her family clothed in her custom creations. She was generous and kind and a diligent Bible student who never failed to share her faith with others. She was appropriately named “Sweet Lynn” by her great-grandchildren.
We are so grateful for the loving care given to her by the staff at the River Ridge Living Center. They shared laughs and tears and made her transition to congregate living less painful, and even pleasant. Thank you for your compassion and dedication.
