Obituary of Richard P. Watson, Jr.
TROY –
Mr. Richard P. Watson, Jr., 74, of Troy, formerly of Hoosick Falls, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, after his health rapidly declined while receiving care at the Split Rock Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in the Bronx.
He was a son born to the late Richard P. Watson, Sr. and Jeanette (O'Brien) Watson on October 12, 1949 in Bennington, Vermont.
Richard was raised in Hoosick Falls and received his education from the Hoosick Falls Central School District. He was formerly employed as a School Bus Driver.
A true outdoorsman, Richard loved camping and admired the majesty of soaring eagles. He found peace while fishing and also enjoyed hunting. Richard also enjoyed sports including football, baseball, bowling/darts, horse racing, cards and boardgames. Richard enjoyed traveling and was constantly taking trips. His greatest joy in life was the love of his family and friends.
Survivors include his children: Brenda Wilkinson, Sue Ann Dessler, Tracy Watson, Richard P. Watson III and Michael Watson. Richard was the grandfather of: Megan, Dean, Christopher, Ann Marie and Drew and great grandfather of 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Isabel, Georgian, William, Janet and Penny. Nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by two wives, his first wife Eloise Greene followed by his wife Mary, his brother Henry and two sisters Gladys and Jean Ann.
Visitation and Viewing will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180 from 4-6PM. A Private Cremation will follow.
