Obituary of Mitchell S. Brower

TROY –

Mr. Mitchell S. Brower, 74 of Troy, formerly of Queens, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Son of Gloria (née Kushner) and late Lawrence Brower, Mitchell was born on August 9, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York.  He was raised in Queens and moved to Troy as a young adult. Mr. Brower was a proud union member for all his life. For many years he worked for the Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators & Paperhangers Local Union #490 in New York. Mitchell then went on to work for Conrail Railroad before retiring from IPAAT Local #201.

Mitchell loved the outdoors, camping, canoeing, hiking and most of all fishing. He was fiercely loyal to friends and family, thoughtful, kind and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a reluctant traveler, but when he did, he loved new adventures and lived a life to be proud of.

In addition to his mother Gloria, Mitchell is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Charlotta “Sherry” (née Sherman) Brower, whom he married on May 5, 2007 in Clifton Park, New York.

Also surviving are beloved children: Ian Brower, Hanna Brower, dearest step children: Caleb Chung, Charlotta (Michael) Chung and Ian Cannon; and cherished grandson, Charles Gordon.

He also leaves to cherish his memory and is survived by one sister, Andrea Werdesheim, two nephews:  Brett Werdesheim and Jake (Kristina) Werdesheim, one niece, Genevieve Goyer, and two sisters in law: Kristed Sherman and Penelope (Stephen) Sherman-Goyer.

In addition to his father, Lawrence, Mitchell was predeceased by one sister, Deborah Slutzer (née Brower).

The Brower Family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to both Dr. James Walders and Dr. Richard Eglow for their many years of caring for Mitchell.
