Pangburn Family,
Michele and I are sorry for your loss. I skied with all of you for one summer down at Jumping Jacks back in the early 90's and always liked it best when Marty drove the ski boat for our Double-Trio Act. He will be in our prayers.

My name is Ellen Bialobok. All four of our children went to AHS and had your husband/dad for music. None live in our area but all remember Craig as a great teacher and very nice man. My oldest son Tim said Craig called him”truck” bc when he blew on his Sax that’s what he sounded like. You could feel his great interest in his students.
We’re so sorry to hear that he passed. Truely such a very nice man. Our deepest condolences

Pangburn family, I am so sorry for your loss! If it were not for working with Craig at Helthco Medical Supplies I probably would not have bought our home in Mariaville 43 years ago. Craig said it was a fantastic place to live and I certainly agree with him. We did not meet up with him & Marty often but it always was a pleasant visit!

Mr. Pangburn was my band teacher in elementary school. All the boys wanted to play trumpet, so he convinced me to play trombone.
He was always energetic, passionate about his profession, and unfailingly kind.
Another wonderful person gone too soon. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

Thank you Coach Pangburn for being such a supportive and inspirational person in my life. Whether it was teaching me to play the saxophone, defend against the pass, or just share a kind word in the hall on the way to class, over 30 years later you are still one of my most memorable people. I will remember your steadfast kindness and belief in me, always. Rest well Coach.

He made such a difference in my brother, Moe Cole’s life as a youngster. 43 years ago, Mr Pangburn taught him more than the trombone. Listened to him, taught him kindness, caring, perseverance and how to be a respectful young man. The world lost an amazing one!! Now he and Moe can play a few notes together!!

Mr. Pangburn was one of my favorite teachers. He taught me the clarinet at McNulty. He made it so memorable. When I got to high school, he was my track coach. I was never fast, but I could always count on Coach Pangburn to cheer me on the whole time. I’m so very sorry for the loss of an incredible educator and human, he will always be remembered.

To Craig's family - so very sorry for your loss. We attended high school with Craig, Dick played soccer in later years when they were all weekend warriors as we watched and I worked (and laughed a lot) on many class reunion committees with Craig. We are truly sorry for your loss of a wonderful man.

So many childhood memories of Mr. Pangburn from McNulty! He was one of my favorite teachers. He was so encouraging, cracking jokes, making lessons so much fun. He really brought out the best in us and would be so proud of our abilities. He also wrote a beautiful card to me when I graduated 6th grade, which I still have and will always treasure. He always managed to see the best in us. He was one of kind.

Marty, to you, Kara, Ryan and the whole family, our deepest condolences. Craig was my family’s first ski team announcer when we joined the team. He was our real leader and we all looked up to him. Everyone he met was a better person because of Craig and our family will keep his memory in our thoughts just because of who he was. Todd and Wendy.

Difficult to find the words. Craig was my cousin (Mom’s). My first memories of him are in his late teens coming to my Grandmother’s and also watching him water ski on the lake. When I was growing up I always thought Craig was larger than life. He just had a way. Coolest guy ever. Musically and athletically talented, an unforgettable smile and laugh, easily engaging in conversation. My condolences to Marty and their kids and grandkids. He will be sorely missed by many I’m sure.

My all time favorite Craig memory… EASY, sharing the microphone with him at our water ski shows; especially on Mariaville Lake with Ma Weakley sitting near by! We would have back and forth “On Air” chats that were ‘Soooo much fun!” Craig will forever remain a wonderful example of how to live a caring, loving, and helpful life. He will always be missed by those of us who proudly called him, “Our Friend.”

"Mr. Pangburn" patiently taught me to play the oboe as a 5th grader- I can only imagine how annoying it must of been but I never felt anything but encouraged! I think most of us at McNulty stuck with instruments as long as we did because it was so much fun to leave class and go hang out in Mr. Pangburn's instrument room (which, I think was a converted closed behind the stage). He always had a great sense of humor, could find the joy and levity in any situation, and introduced me to his daughter Kara, who became a great friend during my college years. Big hugs go out to the Pangburn family.

Coach Pangburn was my football and track coach through my time at Amsterdam High School from 1992 to 1996. I was a pole vaulter, and he provided countless hours of support that I took with me through my years and I will never forget. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend on Saturday as I will be coaching my son's soccer game, but please know I am thinking of him, the Pangburn family, and all the life lessons he passed onto me.

I got to know Craig best while he was president of the ATA. Together we took a very confrontational relationship and made it one that worked for both the Association and the district. We also became friends as a result, which continued long past my role as Assistant Superintendent. One of my proudest possessions was an ATA shirt that Craig gave me when I left the district in 2006. A truly kind, caring, and smart man who knew how to make things happen. He will be missed.

One of the kindest gestures I have received in my life came from Craig Pangburn. In the early 90's I was a new teacher in the Amsterdam school district, and my young daughter, Amanda was an elementary music student of Craig's. Amanda had taken an interest in playing the flute and had mentioned she would like one for Christmas. Life was busy at the time, with full time teaching, being a young mom, etc., and I wasn't sure she would truly get into playing the flute, so I didn't buy one. I reasoned that she would be happy with all the other things Santa brought. On the last day of school, before Christmas break, Craig came into my classroom with a flute. He said something to the effect of, "Have her try it out, keep it for a while, and if she takes to it, and wants to keep playing, let me know and I can set you up with how to purchase this. Also, there is a payment plan if you need that." I was not going to be able to get Amanda a flute for Christmas if he had not done this. I was so moved by his kindness. His behavior was out of the ordinary in that he thought about my needs, my daughter's needs and did something about it. It moved me, and I was very grateful. Amanda did take to the flute and we did buy that flute. Thank you Craig for touching the world with your sweet spirit, and may my dear friend, Marty know how much I love and appreciate her spirit too. Love, Mary Beth Cotrupi

Once a year during Christmas week Craig would join us for our annual Christmas Shopping Day. Over the years we did less shopping as it evolved into a lunch followed by us spreading Christmas cheer to many downtown Schenectady establishments. Craig was a founding member in this ritual as he was in many others Here’s last years group photo. He will be missed terribly.
