Obituary of Jacqueline Corey Smith

EAST GREENBUSH –

Jacqueline (Jacky) Corey Smith, 78, of East Greenbush, formerly of King Ferry, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, July 12, 2024.

She was born on May 6, 1946 in Auburn, NY. A daughter of the late George and Carolyn (White) Corey.

Jacqueline was raised in King Ferry, NY on her family farm and considered herself a farm girl all of her life.  She attended the King Ferry Central School and later graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Social Sciences.  While at the University of Buffalo Jacky joined the International Club, where she met her future husband, Robin Smith.

Jacqueline’s career was extensive over the course of 37 years in various capacities and in different states. She was employed as a social worker in Buffalo, as a teacher in Indiana and later retired from the NYS  Division of Criminal Justice Services, a job she loved.  Jacky was especially proud of her assistance to the FBI, her work with the Native American Tribal Councils, the NYS Magistrates, Court Clerks and the NYS Police. Through her work, Jacky made life friends with several people of the Haudenosaunne, whose history and way of life greatly touched and influenced her.

Jacky believed in the spirit of love and was always willing to help others in need. She enjoyed traveling, genealogy, going to casinos with her sisters, baking pies to share with others and spending time with her family, including her cherished granddaughter, Olivia.

In addition to her husband, Robin Smith, survivors include her son, Brian (Ellie) Smith, her granddaughter Olivia Smith, her twin sister Candice Graham (the late Roger), brother and sister-in-law Richard (Carol) Corey, sister and brother-in-law Christina (Bud) Shattuck. In addition, Jacqueline is survived by numerous, much loved cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, her favorite companion Teapot.
