Obituary of Thomas Veg Pedersen, Jr.

WATERVLIET –

Thomas Veg Pedersen Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 8:45 pm.

Born on August 13, 1959 in Morristown, N.J. to Thomas Veg Pedersen and Lois (Tasmin) Pedersen, Tom's youth was spent working on Mr. Marino's Farm in Schaghticoke, N.Y. with his brothers. He started his family in Cambridge, N.Y. and entered the US Navy soon after from March 1978 to March 1982 as a Signalman 2nd Class. Tom was promoted to Signalman 3rd class on the USS Independence CV-62. Under Tom's tutelage, he and his crew were awarded the Sea Service Ribbon (“Green C”) three years in a row.

Tom was knowledgeable in many professional trades; he was proudly a Master Plumber, Mason, and Craftsman. Throughout his career in the Tri-State area he worked with various companies, such as the D&H Railroad, Rocco Rescelo and Son, the Homiak Bros. and William Pratt and Sons; finally retiring due to his illness.

Tom was handsome, strong, intelligent, funny, and generous; a committed sweetheart of a Man. Tom enjoyed riding around in his Subaru Forester or on his Suzuki motorcycle handed down by his father. He would tour areas in Vermont and New York, revisiting old stomping grounds in Cambridge and other places in the capital region; enjoying scenic vistas, historic sites, work sites, and cemeteries. Tom had a love of architecture and horticulture matched only by his love of music and cats.

On his rides or at home, he regularly listened to rock n' roll metal such as AC/DC, Metallica, and Black Sabbath; drumming his hands on his computer desk and singing along with the beat when a song would captivate him. Tom is also a great karaoke singer who loves songs of country, Hank Williams, Sr. & Jr., and many others. When Madonna's calypso song is playing and Tom gets in a great mood, his hips start to sway dancing; he would grab you and float across the floor.

Tom leaves behind his beloved and devoted sweetheart, Mary Razzano and cat Roy "Fuzzy Nuts"; his siblings, Kenneth (Linda) Pedersen of N.M., Karl Pedersen of N.C., Heather Watkins of N.C., Joshua Pedersen (Lyle Kilts) of Cohoes, N.Y. and the late Keith Pedersen; his children Conrad Wesley Pedersen (Ashleigh Morris), Rebecca Mae Pedersen (Mark Mayer), and Heidi Marie Pedersen (Jeremiah Oakes); his grandchildren Alexandra Joanmarie Pedersen, Iris Ambrosia Mayer, Adelaide Birdella Oakes, Opal Tallulah Mayer, Sylvester Sebastian Mayer and Zinnia Swan Mayer; and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Interment with Military Honors will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:30 am, in the Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.

His father's remains (Thomas Veg Pedersen, Sr.) will be placed alongside for their military honors and then entombed separately in the cemetery's columbarium after the ceremony.
