Obituary of Peter Weldon
TROY –
Peter Weldon, 79, of Troy, entered into rest on July 1, 2023, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family.
The son of the late Willard and Mildred (Gardner) Weldon, Peter was born on May 24, 1944, in Weehawken, N.J. He was raised in Nassau and lived there until moving to Troy in 1985 and has been a Troy City resident ever since. He was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with an associate degree.
Peter served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969 receiving an honorable discharge for his service.
Mr. Weldon was the owner and operator of Double Eagle Coin Gallery in Rensselaer for 2 years, he was also affiliated with Collar City Antiques and Collectibles for many years.
Peter loved “Abu” (his dog) and “Lucky” (his cat). He enjoyed music, especially music on Vinyl Records, and enjoyed garage saling. Peter was very honest man in all his dealings with people and will be warmly remembered for his integrity.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy F. (Kogut) Weldon, of Troy, whom he married in 1987.
His children: David Gleason (Nicole) of Waterford, Laurie Christiansen (Dean) of Wynantskill, Joseph Gleason (Fran) of Troy and Michael Gleason, Jr. (Dana) of Mechanicville. His sister: Karen Hoffman Van Epps (Raymond). Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his half-brother, Clyde Richardson.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with Peter’s family on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4-7PM in the Chapel of Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7 o’clock in the funeral home.
Inurnment with Military Honors will take place on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 1:30 PM in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
The Weldon Family would like to thank The Community Hospice, for their care and compassion, especially Marsha, Chaplain Jeff, and Cory. The Family would also like to thank Peter’s closest friends, Joseph Stickelmyer, Robert Pillsworth and Richard Smith; Richard was by Peter’s side when he passed.
