Obituary of Bernard L. Tansey

SELKIRK – Bernard L. Tansey, 74, died peacefully at home on June 11, 2023, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his husband of 39 years, George Clifford, and his loving family. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Bernard J., and Diana Rivera Tansey. He was born in New London, CT, February 6, 1949, and was raised in Groton, CT. He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN, with a BA in theatre arts. He lived in New York City for many years and worked in professional theatre as a producer, general manager and company manager of national and international tours and off-Broadway shows. He also worked in theatre management at Proctor’s and Cap Rep. He was a member of Equity and ATPAM. For the last 35 years he lived in Delmar and Selkirk, NY. He is survived by his loving siblings Michael (Alana) of Chicago, IL, Linda (Donald) Eldridge of Westerly, RI, Steve (Toni) of Groton, CT and Jim (Cindy) of Myrtle Beach, SC as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and his husband’s sisters and spouses (Carol Tomlin, Cris and Dave Adsit and Patty and Steve Payne). Per his wishes, Bernard has been cremated, and a Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15, 2023.
