Obituary of Claudina Kercado

AMSTERDAM – Claudina Kercado, 93, of Amsterdam, was called home to Heaven by her Lord and Savior. She passed away peacefully from this life, hard working hands at rest, at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam on May 22, 2023 with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late Saturnino and Claudina (Cortes) Hernandez, Claudina was born on October 1, 1929, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. In 1962 she later emigrated to Amsterdam, New York and dedicated her life as a loving homemaker for her family but she was also very proud and a dedicated laborer at the former Esquire Novelty Factory in Amsterdam. Claudina retired in her 70s after many years of service in the factory. She only retired as a result of the factory closing and relocating out of state. She will be remembered for her generosity, integrity, love for all, her kind heart, and her work ethic, all of which were an inspiration to her family and the legacy she leaves behind. Claudina was the loving mother of: Eduardo (Becky) Kercado, Nelson Kercado and his twin Angelita Kercado, Alicia (Paul) Hahn and her twin Miguel (CarolAnne) Kercado, Alberto (Eva) Kercado and his twin the late Alfredo Kercado. She was the cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dearest sister to: Arturo Hernandez, Guadalupe “Tita” Ramos, Dolores “Lola” DelaCruz, Basilia Bonilla, Miguel Hernandez, Alejandro Hernandez, Victoria Calero, Irene “Iris” Ronga, Juanita Acevedo, Carmen “Gia” Colon, Daniel Hernandez, Saturnino “Junior” Hernandez, Margot Gomez, Maria Teresa Talavera, Augustin Hernandez, Mary Petito, Ray Hernandez, Tomas Hernandez and Ronald Hunter. In accordance with her wishes, Claudina was cremated. Her memorial service was planned and held in the Chapel of Simple Choices, Inc., Troy, NY for a private family farewell on May 25, 2023. The service was live streamed and is recorded on the Simple Choices facebook page for those who wish to watch.
