Obituary of Richard Ervin Munson

GHENT – Richard Ervin Munson, 63, of Ghent, formerly of Stockport, passed away at Albany Medical Center on March 28, 2023. A son of the late Harry W. and Ruth M. (Moore) Munson, Richard was born on December 25, 1959, in Elizabethtown, NY. Richard lived in Westport, N.Y and Crown Point N.Y as a child. He attended grade school at Westport Central and Crown Point Central, where he graduated. Richard enlisted in the US Air Force in 1977, shortly after he graduated from high school. He received an honorable discharge for his service in 1983. Richard last place of employment was Albany Airport, where he was a parking attendant for a number of years. As a hobby in his spare time, Richard participated on bowling leagues. Survivors include his siblings and their spouses: Patricia Cline, Harry Munson (Louise Munson), Frank Munson (Bette Munson), Jay Munson (Judith Munson), Susan Munson Ferguson (George Ferguson) and Peggy Munson Miller, along with one surviving sister-in-law Sally Munson and many generations of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brothers: Kenneth Munson, William Munson, Sumner Munson and Clyde Munson, and sisters: Marian Munson Gough, Dorothy Munson Martin, Helen Munson Raymond, and Kimberly Munson Woodard. Richard was also predeceased by several brothers-in-law: Ed Shappy, Bill Cline, James Martin, and Paul Miller, as well as by four sisters-in-law: Sylvia Cowin Munson, Barbara Brace Munson, Opal Munson, and Virginia Munson. Richard’s Family would like to thank the staff at Whittier Nursing and Rehab Facility, the doctors, nurses, and social workers at Albany Medical Center and Nicholas J. Facci, Funeral Director, with Simple Choices, Inc. for guiding our family through this journey. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
