Obituary of John Winnicki

SCOTIA – John Winnicki, 71, of Scotia, formerly of East Greenbush, passed away on March 6, 2023, at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia under Hospice Care. The son of the late Antoni and June (Palmer) Winnicki, John was born on May 15, 1951, in East Greenbush, NY. In his spare time, John loved working at the farm, planting and tending to his vegetables and raspberry plants. He also enjoyed collecting comic books and baseball cards. John battled cancer valiantly for the last 5 years until the end. He will be sorely missed. Survivors include his children and their spouses: Matt (Erin) Winnicki and Rehgan (Ryan) Heritage both of Scotia, NY, his grandchildren (who meant the world to him): Madison and Mason Heritage and Christopher and Lillian Winnicki, his sister, and her spouse: Tracey (Nick) Pezzolla and his nephew, Salvatore Pezzolla. John is also survived by his former wife, Diane, whom he remained on friendly terms, as well her husband Thomas. He extended his family to include their children: Martha and Dylan as his own. Many cousins and extended family also survive, especially Sharon who lended an ear and guidance through his battle. John’s family wishes to thank Hospice, especially Peter and Bill and the Joan Nicole Prince Home staff and volunteers for the care and compassion shown to John during his final days.
