Obituary of Bernice L. Binkowski

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Bernice L. Binkowski, 92, of Saratoga Springs, entered into rest on February 3, 2023 at the Wesley Health Center Nursing Home. The daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Brown) McGrath, Bernice was born on January 21, 1931 in Clinton, MA. As a child she was raised in Montpellier, VT. Bernice moved to Schenectady, NY in the 1940s where she started her family. In the early 1970s the family moved to Clifton Park, NY, while also snow birding to Florida for the winters. In later years, Bernice lived with family members around the Capital District until residing at The Wesley Nursing Home. Bernice was formerly employed as a waitress while raising her family and eventually moved on to work for the NYS Teacher's Retirement, until she retired. She was formerly a member of the Fort Hunter's Women's Fire Auxiliary. Bernice was also a member of several bowling leagues through the years, and enjoyed fishing, bingo, slot machines, and playing on her computer. She married the late Henry Binkowski on June 15, 1946 in Schenectady, NY. Bernice leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Edward (Karlien), Donna (William) Shave, Denise (Jeffrey) Wright and Linda (Patrick) Ellsworth, as well as 12 grandchildren and 23 Great grandchildren and numerous Great-Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Diana. In addition to her husband Henry, Bernice was predeceased by three of her children: Robert, Steven and Sherri. Many thanks to her loving family and the nursing staff at The Wesley Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received in the final weeks of Bernice’s life. In accordance with her wishes, services will be private for the family. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
