Obituary of William J. Lewis

MALTA – William J. "Beezy" Lewis, 71, of Malta, passed away at his home on January 30, 2023, after battling a long illness. William, or Billy, as he was known by family and friends, was born on November 30, 1951, in Troy, New York. He was the son of the late George "Snap" Lewis and Ellen Marie (Hanehan) Lewis. Billy was a graduate of Stillwater High School and has worked all his life in multiple phases of building and construction, he was a very skilled woodworking craftsman and painter. He loved watching the horses race at Saratoga racetrack, NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Boston Red Sox. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his beloved wife, Cheryl, his daughter Amber (Scott) Paffen, his grandsons Tyler and Colby Paffen, his stepson’s Chris (Stacy) Brennan, Charlie Brennan and step grandchildren Cameron and Sydney. Billy is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen (Biff) Baker, Cathy (Artie) Baker, Ann Marie (Danny) Patenaude, sister-in-law Patty (Edwin) Neuman, as well as many nieces and his nephew. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Michael Lewis and his brother-in-law Mike Nadeau. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 o’clock, the morning of Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2001 US-9, Round Lake, NY 12151. All are invited to attend. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Team of St Peter's Hospital for all their help during this difficult time.
