Obituary of Ronald Szczepanski

NISKAYUNA – Ronald Szczepanski, age 76, died November 4, 2022. Ron was born in Utica, New York and graduated from New York Mills High School. He maintained a continuing connection with New York Mills, visiting often and keeping in touch with classmates. He earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from SUNY Albany. He was a dedicated high school mathematics teacher for the Schenectady City School District for 30 years. Following his retirement, he continued working as a consultant for the New York State Education Department. For three decades, Ron was a volunteer at First New York Federal Credit Union where he served on the Board of Directors, a position from which he recently retired. He and his wife have been members of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish for 50 years. Ron is survived by his wife Carol, his daughter Amy Szczepanski (James Conant), his son Michael Szczepanski (Reena), grandsons Nikhil and Jayan, sister-in law Holly DellAquila, niece Lisa DellAquila, nephew Mark DellAquila, and three grandnephews. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. A Funeral Liturgy of the Word will be held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish on Rosa Road on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00pm. A Calling Hour will be held at the church an hour prior to the liturgy. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to a charity that benefits children.
