Obituary of John E. Brooks

SCOTIA – On Friday, September 16, 2022, John E. Brooks, loving husband, father, and brother passed away at Ellis Hospital at the age of 84. John was born February 11, 1938, in Charlton, NY to the late Richard and Helen (Kane) Brooks. On May 29, 1965, John married the love of his life, Beverly J. Palmer. Together they raised two sons, Clifford, and Todd Brooks. John owned and operated John E. Brooks Garage in Scotia for 50 years. Prior to owning his own business John served in the Air Force, where he was a flight mechanic. John was a member of the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department, a lifelong member of Beukendaals Volunteer Fire Department, a charter member of Scotia Glenville Elks Club and a life member of Guan Ho Ha Fish and Game Club. John was an avid fisherman, loved camping with his family and friends in the Adirondacks. John is remembered to be a father figure by many. Survived by his loving wife, Beverly, sons Clifford and Todd Brooks, grandchildren Gillian, Brandin and Dylan, as well as his brother, David (Patty), his sisters Evelyn, Judith and Martha. John is also survived by his 3 daughters from a prior marriage, Patty, Linda, and Sherry along with several nieces and nephews. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. A celebration of John’s fruitful and storied life will be held on October 8, 2022, from 12-4PM at Hometown Pub and Grub, 402 Meriline Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
