Patricia Kappes

Obituary of Patricia E. Kappes

Patricia E. Kappes, 70, of Melrose, NY died July 7th surrounded by family and loved ones.  Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late Jack Hanby and Alice Hanby of Troy.  She grew up in Troy and graduated from Troy High School.  Patricia was also a graduate of HVCC.

She was the loving wife of John Kappes of Melrose, NY and loving mother to John (Gina) of Brewster, NY and Hope (James) Seymour of Melrose, NY.  She was the proud grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren;  Katerina, Christian, Lily, Logan, and Riley.  Nothing made her happier than to spend time with her grandchildren and watch them learn and grow.  Over the last ten years she happily cared for her youngest two grandchildren full time.

Early in her life she worked as a laboratory technician for Rensselaer County.  While her children were young she was a stay at home Mom and thoroughly enjoyed spending her time with her children.  Later in her career she worked as a medical transcriptionist in the Troy area.

Patricia’s family would like to thank Dr. David Strumph and his partners at Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.  Even while she was not directly under his care and at various hospitals he followed her case consulting and helping along the way.  His support and care throughout her long illness will not be forgotten.

A short calling time will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 585 4th Avenue in Troy at 8:30 Saturday, July 22, 2017.  A service celebrating her life will follow.  The family asks that donations be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in hopes of more research for IPF.
