The son of the late Nicholas and Gertrude (Urbanski) Williams, Robert was born on January 14, 1934 in Schenectady. He was a lifelong Schenectady resident, having attended local schools.

Mr. Williams enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and served his country faithfully until receiving an honorable discharge in 1956. Soon after, he was united in marriage to Irene Izzo, whom he married on May 25, 1956. Their union lasted 60 years until Irene’s passing on March 26, 2022.

Mr. Williams was formerly employed by United Baking (then becoming Freihofer's Baking Company Inc.). He retired from the General Electric Company after 30 years of service.

A devout Catholic, Robert was formerly a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church on Eastern Avenue (prior to that parish closing) and lastly St. John the Evangelist Church both in Schenectady. In his youth he was an altar server for the former St. John the Baptist Church.

In his youth he played baseball and was an avid fan of the sport. He played baseball so well that a recruiter approached him about joining the major leagues. In later years Robert enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

He is survived by his only daughter, Maria L. Williams. Robert is also survived by his first cousins: John and Joseph Urbanski, his in-laws: Cynthia and Marc Brody and two nephews: Jason and Adam Brody.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene (Izzo) Williams. He now joins his family in the Kingdom of Heaven.
