Obituary of Jon Erik Stehr

SCHENECTADY – Jon Erik Stehr, 53, of Schenectady, entered into rest on November 26, 2022, at Ellis Hospital following a brief illness. The son of the late Kord A. Stehr and Berit J. Hammer-Duignan and stepson of Thomas Duignan, Jon was born on December 9, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York. From Brooklyn, Jon moved Upstate for his school years and graduated from Mohonasen Central School District in Rotterdam. Jon then moved to Seattle, Washington for a short time. He eventually settled in Annapolis, MD for many years, recently returning to Rotterdam. After helping to grow Stehr Enterprises, representing the finest plumbing and hardware manufacturers in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Jon started boating as a hobby but eventually enjoyed his home away from home at Jaws Marine in Baltimore, MD for many years. Jon held a membership with the Fleet Reserve Club. In his personal time, Jon enjoyed volunteering at the Fleet Reserve and helping the Veterans. He especially loved working, helping set-up, and attending the annual Boat Shows in Annapolis, MD. He always loved GSL (The Great Sacandaga Lake!) returning at least once a year but always as often as possible. Survivors include siblings: Kord A. Stehr II (Val Loika), Patrick Stehr (fiancé Roxanne) Diane Belott, Dan Diamante (Paula), Darlene Hollenbeck. Jon is also survived by his uncle Karl Stehr of Portsmouth, NH, as well as her close friend and roommate Buzzy. In addition to his father, mother and stepfather, Jon was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Bertha Hammer. Special Thanks to Nancy and Bob Burke of Charlton, NY for always being there, and to the nurses and staff on A3 and all the others who helped Jon while at Ellis Hospital. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The Stehr Family has chosen to honor Jon’s memory in a private way.
