Obituary of Shirley Anne Zampier

LATHAM – Shirley Anne Zampier, 89, of Latham, New York, formerly of Barre, Vermont, entered into rest on September 2, 2022. The daughter of the late Robert and Eveline (Knutson) Belknap, Shirley was born on May 18, 1933, in Barre, Vermont, where she was raised. Shirley has resided in Watervliet, New York, Venice, Florida, and lastly, Latham, New York, up until the time of her death. Formerly employed by Gurley’s Precision Instruments in Troy (where she met her husband, Henry Zampier). Shirley was a stay-at-home mom until later in life when she took a job at the New York State Dept. of Taxation and Finance in Albany. She retired in 1999 to Florida with Henry. Her hobbies and interests included reading (she was an avid reader) and crafting. Shirley was a creative artist with a talent for pottery, knitting, painting, and she enjoyed cooking for her loved ones. Beloved mother of: Patricia (Ira) Weiss and Cheryl (Frank) Risler. Cherished grandmother of: Alison (Keith) Straub, Richard (Meghan) Mueller, Elisabeth (Steve) Kohlbecker, Jennifer (Joe) Belmont and Brandon Risler (Kalynn Carl), and great grandmother to: Grace, Ellie, Lilly, Henry, James, Willow, Joe Joe, Jay, and Emmy. Dearest mother-in-law to Marlene Zampier. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Henry Zampier, whom she married in Troy on April 10, 1953, as well as her son William Zampier, and her brother Charles Belknap. Special Acknowledgement to the wonderful staff at Elderwood Village at Colonie. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a graveside ceremony at the Albany Rural Cemetery, 3 Cemetery Avenue in Menands, where prayers will be offered on Saturday, October 8th at 10 o’clock in the morning. Please assemble at the cemetery's south gate entrance (Route 378) by 9:45AM.
