Obituary of Clarence James Weagle, Jr.

LEHIGH ACRES, FL – Clarence “Sonny” James Weagle, Jr., 82, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at home with his surviving wife Joanne (Pelletier) Weagle by his side to whom he was married for 61+ years. He was born in Worcester, MA on April 26, 1940, the son of the late Clarence James Weagle Sr. and Helen (Fields) Weagle. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his eight children, Sonny III of Sebastian FL, David of Amarillo TX, Helen of Troy NY, Alan of Denton TX, Kevin of Carlisle PA, Vickie of Rotunda West FL, Robin of Lehigh Acres FL, and Jill of Waynesboro GA. Sonny leaves 17 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren who referred to him lovingly as Pap. Sonny was loved by many of his nieces and nephews, you can always see the same smile on their face when they talk about Uncle Sonny. Sonny was a Truck Driver for 50+ years and was the sole supporter of his family of 10 which allowed Joanne to stay home and raise the children. His notable saying was “I have more miles in reverse than most people have in drive”. He was a hard worker that gave all of himself for his family. He was always there when anyone needed him. Sonny was a fan of Country Music and absolutely loved to dance with his wife Joanne. They learned and enjoyed Square Dancing and Country & Western Dance. When he got on the dancefloor his rarely left it until the music was done for the evening. As a request, in lieu of services after his passing, Sonny called his children together in May this year for a weekend family reunion to celebrate life. He was able to enjoy having his family together eating, laughing, and singing one last time. The smile on his face watching the great grandchildren laugh and play was priceless. He went parasailing and spent time on that Sunday morning having breakfast with “the guys” as he loved to do. A special thanks to Steve Balestrieri, his son-in-law, who was a key caregiver in his final years. You treated him with dignity, and respect, always caring for his comfort. We appreciate all that you did for him Steve, he appreciated it as well. Cremation has taken place through the coordination of Simple Choices, Inc.
