Obituary of Susan M. Bailey-Carknard

VALLEY FALLS- Susan M. Bailey-Carknard, 67, of Valley Falls, passed away on January 14, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 15, 1954, the daughter of the late Kendall and Bernice (Williams) Bailey. Sue lived for many years in Averill Park and Troy, but she most loved her country life in Valley Falls. She had such a green thumb, and she enjoyed the birds and animals that lived around her. She could often be found sitting on her porch with her feet up, reading a good book or talking to friends. More than anything, Sue loved her family and relished the time that she spent with them. She loved family gatherings of any kind, especially when it included the little ones. Sue’s feisty nature and sense of humor are legendary, and she always said what was on her mind. These are some of the many things that those who knew her will miss. Her passing will leave a hole in the lives of her friends and family that will never be filled, and the world will be a sadder and quieter place without her in it. Sue leaves behind her husband of 34 years Greg Carknard, her son Jason Bailey (Amy Huber), and her grandson Zachary Bailey. She also leaves her sister Connie Kotary, brothers John Bailey (Debbie), and Mike Bailey (Mary Lu Meeth). Also mourning her passing are her sisters in law Eva Gregorek (Vincent), Pauline Carknard, and Vinette Seidler (Richard). Her many nieces and nephews are also left to remember their Aunt Sue. A celebration of Sue's life will be held at 11am on January 29th at The Venue, 65 Congress Street, Cohoes, NY. The service will be followed by a gathering of family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you contribute to a charity of your choice in Sue’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc. Cremation Service.
