Obituary of Joan Helena Desbiens

SCHENECTADY- Joan Helena Desbiens (Jo-An), with her loving children by her side, has peacefully entered everlasting love of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Joan was born in Island Pond, Vermont on July 10, 1942, to Joseph Edward Morissette and Ann (Fleury) Morissette. She attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated from Sacred Heart High School, New Port, Vermont in 1961. Shortly after graduation, Joan married Jean Paul Desbiens on September 23, 1961. Predeceased by her husband J. Paul Desbiens (April 28, 1985) and her parents Joseph and Ann Morissette, Three sisters, Simone (McCormick) Morissette, Pauline and Mary Morissette and her three brothers Ernest, Oscar and Hervie Morissette. Joan is survived by her four children, Mark Joseph, Leo Paul and Peter Aurthur and her daughter Diane (Burchhardt) Desbiens. Blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, 3 boys and 1 girl. Parents to Alec Thomas, Benjamin Paul and Haley Ann are Thomas and Diane Burchhardt. Parents to Jacques (Jake) Desbiens are Peter and Jennifer (Scammell) Desbiens. Joan worked 24 years for Bellevue Maternity Hospital, Troy Road, Niskayuna. She has been a resident of Schenectady since 1963, a member of the St. Paul The Apostle Church, Rosary Society, Woodlawn Neighborhood Association and a lover of travel, has truly been around the world. Thank you for the love and devotion you showed your grandchildren. Your love and guidance truly shaped them into who they are. Thank you for every way you touched our lives! Your delicious home cooked meals, your famous chocolate chip cookies and your kind soul will forever be missed! We love you and miss you already!
