Obituary of Jean Norton
WATERVLIET-
Jean Norton passed away on Saturday September 11, 2021. Jean had been battling numerous health problems for years and is now free of the body that had failed her and is at peace.
Jean was born to the late Daniel W. Norton and Bessie Grace (Durkee) Norton in Kingsbury New York on April 20, 1942. She was the youngest of 14 children and was predeceased by all her siblings. Jean was part of the foster care system from the age of 5 and as a teenager was a resident of Vanderheyden Hall in Troy NY. She graduated from Troy High School in 1960 and went on to earn an associate degree from SUNY Cobleskill. She worked for the State of New York as a clerk in the Education Department for 30 years. If you knew Jean, you knew that she lived on her own terms, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always trying to get people to laugh. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world and the Mets were a close second.
Jean is survived by her children Paul R. Inman (Colleen) and Jamie L. Rowe (Anthony). Her grandson Steven R. Rowe and granddaughters Casey P. Inman and Jillian Knox. Jean is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
