Obituary of Esta N. Howell

MECHANICVILLE- Esta N. Howell, 91, of Mechanicville, formerly of Gibraltar, MI died unexpectedly at Saratoga Hospital on March 25, 2021 after a short illness. Born on March 6, 1930 in Gibraltar, MI. Esta was the daughter of the late William and Almina Langlois. She was predeceased by her husband James Howell. Esta proudly grew up where the Detroit River meets Lake Erie on Horse Island, in the little town of Gibraltar, Michigan where she gained her love of the water and boating.  She ultimately settled in Upstate New York with her family where she made many, many lifelong friends. Esta was employed with Metropolitan Insurance Company where she was a No Fault Specialist for 20 years. Esta loved her NY Yankees & Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) and watched every game when she could.  She was quick with a joke, loved to laugh and her sense of humor was unmatched.  Everyone who met her loved her and she was "Mom" to more then just her biological children throughout the years.  She loved to cook and share her recipes with family and friends and oh how she loved music and the Arts.  She loved going to SPAC to not only watch the ballet & the Philadelphia Orchestra, but also Earth, Wind & Fire, Josh Groban, Joe Bonamassa and many more.   Her greatest love though was the love she had for all of her family, near & far. Survivors include her children; Kathleen McClanahan, Colleen Simmons (Henry Albarelli), Timothy McClanahan and Michael (Kim) McClanahan. Her grandchildren; Kristen Hale, Alissa Simmons, Shana McClanahan and Kellie McClanahan. Great grandchildren; Daniel Perreault, Lucas & Jonathon Hale, Alena Lewis & Maisie Moore. Besides her husband, Esta was predeceased by her loving siblings; Shirley Rhine, Earl Langlois, Kathleen Vos, Donna Hedke  & June Oldfield and the Angels are probably singing (and laughing)now that the Langlois family has been reunited once again! A 10:30 Church service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle, 121 North Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118 on Friday April 16 with burial after the service at Saratoga National Cemetery.   A Celebration of Life for Esta will be held immediately following at Brown's Brewing Malt Room, 417 River Street, Troy NY.  Please join us for food & music to celebrate her beautiful legacy.  Arrangements are by Simple Choices, Inc.
