Obituary of Marion Catherine Glass

SCHENECTADY- Marion Catherine Glass, 98, of Schenectady, formerly of Ocala, Florida passed away on March 12, 2021. Born on January 10, 1923 in Staten Island, NY. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen Kubis. On September 7, 1946, Marion married the late Raymond C. Glass in Staten Island, NY. In 1952 Raymond and Marion moved to Levittown, Long Island. After a transfer with General Electric in 1963, the family of 5, moved to Ballston Lake, then retiring to Florida after 22 years at their Ballston Lake home. Ocala, would be their home until 2006 when Raymond passed away. Marion would stay in Florida until her children could talk her into moving closer to family. She moved into Holiday at the Atrium in 2015. Marion and Ray met while both working at General Electric in NYC. Marion retired from GE in 1952. She returned to the workforce at the Carl Co. in 1967. While in NY, Marion enjoyed volunteering with the Schenectady Light Opera. In Florida she was involved with the Ocala Garden Club and Presbyterian Women. Marion was always willing to give her opinion and when he was three, her grandson Scott said, "Grandma is one tough cookie"! In her later years she did delight in causing trouble much to the chagrin of her son Doug. Survivors include her children; Denise (Mark) Dornbush, Douglas (Denise) Glass, Bruce (Amy) Glass. Her grandchildren; Scott Dornbush, Bailey Glass and Nathan Glass, Gregory Dornbush, Ryan and Renee' Glass. Great grandchildren; Annabelle, Delany and Calvin Zelehowski, Vera Dornbush, Eleanor and Giuseppe Popolizo, Benjamin Glass and Ruby Dornbush. Besides her husband, Marion was predeceased by her great grandson Dino, and good friend Hazel Ryder. Thank you to all that touched, in one way or another, the incredible 98 years of our mother’s life. Ashes will be scattered at the Memorial Garden at Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church, 674 Silver Road, Ocala, Florida 34427 at the family’s convenience.
