Obituary of Elizabeth Cook Atkinson

BALLSTON LAKE- Elizabeth Cook Atkinson, age 79, of Ballston Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021, after a lengthy and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Elizabeth was born in Cohoes to the late Frank and Edna(Couture) Cook. She graduated from Shaker High School in 1959 and earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Classical Civilizations from the State University at Albany. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Thomas Atkinson and her brother James Cook. She is survived by her sister Joan Jones (Clayton) of Maine, sister-in-law Gail Cook of Latham, and her Uncle Roger Couture of Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Those who wish, may make a donation to a local animal shelter in Betty's memory, as she was the owner of many cats, dogs and horses over the years. Betty will be laid to rest with her parents and brother and at her request a private funeral service will be held due to safety concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic.
