Obituary of Cleophas A. Collins
SCHENECTADY-
Cleophas Collins, 58, of Schenectady, formerly of Manhattan, passed away on January 26, 2021 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness with Cancer.
Cleophas was born in East Harlem, New York and attended Alfred E. Smith High School. Cleo had a full life with several careers. As a young man he worked as a florist assistant and delivery driver for Plaza Florist in New York City. He spent the next 10 years working as a tour bus driver for Academy Tours in Hoboken N.J. Cleo briefly worked for the City of New York as a sanitation driver before embarking on a career at Price Chopper in Slingerlands as a deli clerk. Cleo was loved by his customers and respected by his co-workers. He retired from Price Chopper in 2010.
Cleo will be fondly remembered as a funny, charismatic, loving, understanding, outgoing, gregarious person. His hobbies and interests included working on cars, football (he loved the Giants) and Old School Hip hop. Every day for an hour or so, Cleo enjoyed talking to his best friend David Briggs.
Survivors include his significant other of 22 years, Carmen Pimentel.
Father of Cleo Christina Collins, Tishia, Sean, Michaela, Erika, Jason and his beloved son Michael.
Grandfather of 11 Grandchildren.
Also survived by 5 sisters; Doreena, Sabrina, Suzy, Cathy and Celia, 2 uncles Ira and Charles, 9 Nieces and nephews, as well as 11 great nieces and nephews also survive.
