Obituary of Alphonso Boyd

TROY Alphonso Boyd, 62, of Troy, passed away on January 16, 2021 at home after a brief illness, with family by his side Born and raised in New York, NY, Alphonso moved to Troy in the early 1990s. He studied Computer Information Systems at HVCC and started working for New York State in 2006 as an IT Specialist, first for the Department of Transportation and later for the Office of the Comptroller. Al loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen. There was never a movie he wouldn’t enjoy watching, nor a song he wouldn’t dance to. He was a generous soul willing to support anyone who needed it. Al will be remembered for enjoying good music, good food, and good conversation. Survivors include his partner of 27 years, Kristy Vanbergen, his children; Jerkeida Grant, Levar Moore, Shayla Boyd, Alexander Boyd and Dante Boyd. His siblings; Charlotte Greene, Jonathan Greene, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father, Alfus Boyd, his mother Nealia Mae Greene Singleton, and his sister, Israella Manigault. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, January 20th at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Troy, where a funeral service will be conducted at 6 o'clock that evening in the funeral home. **Face masks are required inside the funeral home and social distancing is to be observed.** Memorial donations may be made to: The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S.
