Obituary of Elbridge A. O'Neil, Jr.

CLIFTON PARK Elbridge A O’Neil, 76, of Clifton Park, NY passed away Thursday December 17, 2020 after a brief illness. Elbridge, often called Al or Sonny, was born in Moriah, NY the son of the late Elbridge and Nellie O’Neil. He attended local schools and graduated from Moriah High School. He started his university studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and finished at Union College in Schenectady with a degree in chemistry. He worked for General Electric in Niskayuna as a research chemist for over twenty years, securing several patents. After his career at GE, he worked for Window Tech Systems in Malta for several years before retiring. He was a gentle soul, a faithful husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He spent his retirement years enjoying time with his grandchildren whether it was simply visiting family or helping his granddaughter with science and math. Elbridge was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Joan. He is survived by his wife Patricia, three sons John (and wife Susan) of Rochester, Mark (and wife Annette) of Gansevoort, and Jeff (and fiancee Rebecca Donaldson) of Corinth and his former daughter-in-law Stacie Boni of Corinth. He also leaves his grandchildren Keegan, Nathaniel, MacKenzie, Marissa, and Emily, several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. Due to current circumstances with the pandemic, the family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
