It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather (Pepa). Ron passed away suddenly on Monday, July 17, 2017 with his soulmate by his side.
Ron was a person of devotion and integrity and will be greatly missed by his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his Polly. He met the love of his life and sweetheart at the age of 14 and they have been inseparable ever since.
Ron was a proud veteran that served his country in the United States Navy. He was an excellent provider for his family, a hard worker and a wonderful example of determination. He built a prominent construction company ‘Roland Construction from the ground up and mentored many young men. In 2014, Ron joined the faculty of the Capital Region BOCES where he taught Building Trades.
Ron was born in Albany, NY on May 30, 1938 to the late Phyllis Bucci Slingerland. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Pauline (Blasen) Roland, along with his loving daughters; Tina (Patrick) Dalton, Michelle (William) Bradt and Sandra (Charles) Launsbach. He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Lorraine Goldstein.
His cherished grandchildren; Melinda (Jason), Kelly (Adam), Jessica (David), Ronald (Misty), James, Anthony (Brittany), Robert, Charles and Christopher.
His siblings; James (Christine) Slingerland, Raymond (Leonara) Slingerland, Lisa Slingerland Kachidurian and MaryLou Campbell.
He was predeceased by siblings; Robert Slingerland, Eugene Slingerland and Evelyn McCauslin Dunigan. Step-father: James Slingerland.
He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
There are no calling hours. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital or the Capital Region BOCES in his honor to continue to help students learn these valuable trades.
