Obituary of Phillip J. Belair
Phillip J. Belair, 61, of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Massena, died on Wednesday May 11, 2016 in Saratoga Springs after a long illness.
Mr. Belair was born on January 19, 1955, the son of the late Wallace J. Belair and Mary C. Ashley Belair of Massena. He attended Sacred Heart School and Holy Family High School. As a young man, he developed a love of cars and began working for Fay Motors in Massena while still in high school.
In 1980 he married Karen Arnold, also of Massena. They had four children. While in Massena, Mr. Belair became partner and then majority owner of Massena Lincoln-Mercury Dealership.
Mr. Belair’s entire career was devoted to the auto sales business. In his later years, he owned Northwestern Trading Corporation in Malta, NY. He married Victoria Drennan in 1993 and the couple resided in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Mr. Belair is survived by three sons, Andrew and Evan of Syracuse, NY, and Aaron of San Francisco, CA. His daughter Ashley Belair McDonald predeceased him on December 4, 2015. He is also survived by a brother, Gil J. Belair of Massena, and two sisters, Paula B. Woehr of Culpeper, VA and Sueanne M. Myers of Raleigh, NC. Survivors also include two grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by one nephew, Eric J. Silver of Baldwinsville, NY in 2001.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena, NY.
