Obituary of Diane L. Walker

Esperance, NY- Diane L. Walker, 66, died on July 30, 2015 in Esperance, NY. Born on Aug. 1, 1948, in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter & Dorothy Scholz. Growing up she attended Centre Glenville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed being a member of the local Girl Scouts. Diane graduated in 1966 from Scotia-Glenville HS, and 1968 from SUNY Cobleskill, and she moved to California where she pursued her interest in Child Care and Education. She married her first husband, the late Roy Valencia, in Santa Barbara where their son, Aaron, was born in 1974. On June 27, 1987 Diane married Michael B. Walker in Hollywood, CA. During the 28 years that Diane was married to Michael they also lived and worked in Reserve, New Mexico, and Clearwater, Florida. Diane recently retired with her husband and moved to Esperance, NY. She is remembered by the many students she had over the years teaching in private schools in California, New Mexico and Florida. Having grown up in rural upstate NY Diane always enjoyed the outdoors – travel, hiking, and gardening, and loved being with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Michael B. Walker, son, Aaron C. Valencia, sister, Bonnie (Scholz) Claydon, step sons, Phillip and Ken Walker and step daughter, Aradona Walker, aunt, Marilyn Bly, uncle, Charles Baldwin, and grandchildren Braden and Kayle Walker, as well as several cousins in NY, MA, and CA A memorial service will be held at the Centre Glenville United Methodist Church, located at 151 Bolt Rd, Scotia, NY 12302, on Saturday August 8 at 2 pm.
