Obituary of Kurt William Soloski

Ushers, NY- Kurt William Soloski, 69, of Ushers, New York, passed away at home with family on Sunday, August 2, 2015 following a courageous fight with lung cancer. Kurt, the son of William J. Soloski and Edith Butler Soloski, was born June 11, 1946 in Amsterdam, New York and lived in Mechanicville and then in Ushers, New York. A 1965 graduate of Mechanicville High School, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1966 and served on the destroyer USS Hugh Purvis out of Newport, Rhode Island. After returning from 3 years of service he was employed at GE Silicone in Waterford, NY until his retirement in 2001. Kurt was a member of the American Legion Post 91, the E. H. Strang Fire Company in Mechanicville and a lifetime member of the Hillcrest Fire Department in Halfmoon. He was a lover of cars, motorcycles and boats as well as warm weather. Kurt and his wife Sally spent many warm winters in Florida and summers on Sacandaga Lake. Kurt is survived by his wife of 38 years Sally (Stack) Soloski, daughter Michelle, granddaughters Chelsea, Phoenix and Shelbie, grandsons Dakota and Richard, three great grandsons Connor, Jamison and Gregory and a brother, Mark Soloski of Baltimore, MD. A son, Roy passed away in 2014. A memorial Service will be held at the Hillcrest Fire Department on Saturday, August 8th at 1 PM.
